Congratulations are in order for Blake Shelton.

Or, to be more accurate, congratulations are in order for Blake Shelton’s publicist.

The country music superstar, Voice judge and occasional homophobe has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year for 2017.

It’s a wholly subjective distinction that has been awarded in the past to such major names as Dwayne Johnson, George Clooney and Mel Gibson.

"Y’all must be running out of people,” Shelton jokes in the cover story about earning the honor, adding:

“Like, Wow, we’re down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical.”

Shelton went on to say that girlfriend Gwen Stefani pushed him to embrace the title, although he was hesitant to do so because he still seems himself as an overweight child.

“People say I haven’t changed since before I made it. And I’m still fat today. That’s proof!” the artist also quips to the publication.

But the tall singer (he’s 6’5”) – whose latest album is number-one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart – tries to eat the treadmill often and eat as healthy possible.

But he does love the fast food chain Sonic and its jalapeno poppers, along with fishsticks and pickles. Oh, and Cheetos, too.

It’s this everyman persona, however, that has endeared him to millions of fans.

It’s probably why Stefani likes him so much, too, and why she may even have his baby.

But not everyone on Twitter is a fan of this selection.

Wrote one disgruntled user:

The same people who voted in People’s sexiest alive man list are the same folks who tampered w/ the presidential elections.

And another:

Somebody tell me how Blake Shelton won #SexiestManAlive when there are people like Charlie Hunnam out there?!?!

And also another:

Blake Shelton is People’s Sexiest Man Alive because apparently Idris Elba, Chris Evans and Jason Momoa fell off the planet last night.

Whatever, though, Shelton basically replies.

He can refer to this honor for the rest of his life and he can hold it over a certain fellow panelist on The Voice.

“It’s going to be used in every conversation, whether it’s at The Voice, or at the feed in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, or in a conversation with a doctor,” he tells People.

“When [people] would say to [Adam Levine], ‘Mr. Sexy,’ you’d always see him go, ‘Well, awwww…’ If you say that to me, it’s going to be:

‘You’re damn right, I’m Mr. Sexy! I’ve been ugly my whole life, if I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it. I’m taking it.”

DO YOU THINK BLAKE SHELTON IS REALLY THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE?
