Back in 2017, Josh Duhamel and Fergie separated after eight years of marriage.
Now, almost two years later, Fergie has filed for divorce.
And that’s no real surprise, given that her estranged husband has been openly dating significantly younger women.
TMZ reports that, on Friday, Stacy Ann Ferguson — better known as Fergie — filed for divorce from Josh.
The filing took place in Pasadena, more than ten years after their 2009 wedding.
Josh and Fergie share a 5-year-old son, Axl Jack Duhamel.
Some had believed that things were on the mend after the pair were spotted sharing a warm embrace in late 2018.
The two began dating in 2004. This is truly the end of an era.
Though they had separated earlier in the year, Josh and Fergie announced that they’d parted ways in September of 2017.
“With absolute love and respect,” their joint statement began. “We decided to separate as a couple earlier this year.”
“To give our family the best opportunity to adjust,” they continued. “We wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public.”
“We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family,” Fergie and Josh affirmed.
Their son, who was only four at the time, remains the center of their world.
Many fans of the couple had hoped to see them reunite.
But, as we mentioned, their lengthy separation was not the only indication that they weren’t rushing to reconcile.
Last year, Josh Duhamel dated Baby Driver star Eiza Gonzalez for five months.
He was also spotted alongside model and Miss World America 2016, Audra Mari.
Josh was also seen with Rebekah Graf who, unlike the other women who were linked to the 46-year-old, is out of her twenties.
In fact, age was a factor in the couple’s issues — but not because Fergie isn’t still all kinds of hot.
On Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, Josh opened up about a major hangup about his marriage.
He admitted to wanting more children after Axl.
Fergie is 44, and beyond an age at which it would be safe for her to give birth.
While there are numerous options for a couple of their means, including adoption and gestational carriers, it seems that they couldn’t agree.
Some are tempted to reduce this to Josh having increased in fame in the 15 years since he began dating Fergie, who has been a household name for much logner.

Not to knock the show that was a comfort to boob-loving dads and to people with depression and/or PTSD eagerly awaiting syndicated episodes of Law & Order, but …
Let’s be honest: Josh is much more famous after Michael Bay’s massive and largely incomprehensible Transformers films.
“Bayformers” may not have done many favors for actual Transformers fans who enjoy coherent stories, but it did wonders for Josh’s career.
But we think that reducing this relationship’s end to Josh wanting to date around isn’t to anyone’s credit.
(Also, he was already hot and famous when he and Fergie married.)
One big question is whether or not he plans to get married again.
Josh is a practicing Catholic and his last wedding was Catholic.
It seems unlikely that he’ll be granted an annulment from the Church at this point, which he’d need to have another Catholic wedding.
But hey, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. They still have a divorce to go through before either of them even thinks about a new marriage.
