The viral story of a wedding invite a bride accidentally texted to a stranger who showed up anyway to crash the thing has been revealed as a hoax.

The wedding photo is real and the real story behind it is pretty darn good, though.

This Instagram text exchange between newlywed “Kristen” and a stranger who told the bride, “We still coming,” was made up by some random web user.

That user based on this real photo of the wedding party with their new friends that was posted to Reddit by the newlyweds, Ian and Amy Hicks.

“The text is pretty funny. The #westillcoming? That’s hilarious,” Ian said. “But this is really such a great story, because it’s true.”

“It happened to us.”

The Hicks’ wedding took place in June at the Colony Club in Detroit, after which the duo drove around the city in an antique trolley for photos.

Photographer Adam Sparkes suggested they stop by the abandoned Michigan Central Station for a few shots, and there, they met rap group 7262.

“Amy and I go off to the side and get a few pictures,” Ian recalls.

“Before I can even turn around my groomsmen are already over there talking to the guys. So our photographer was like, ‘All right, let’s go over there.'”

The rappers clapped for the happy couple when they came over and joined the pair for pictures, then guys of 7262 invited the wedding party to dance.

Ian, Amy and their guests obliged, dancing to their song “Anthem.”

The couple said the photo first went viral after someone pulled the shot from Ian’s Facebook page and posted it to Reddit, but it gets weirder still.

“My little brother, one of the groomsman … one of the rappers got his number a month later and was like, ‘Hey, we’re posting the video to YouTube today,'” Amy said.

“We didn’t even know that they were filming us.”

Apparently, the wedding group’s moves wmade the final cut. The bridal party is shown getting down in the (NSFW) “Anthem” video from 7262’s Jojinoo and Mojo:

How’s that for a wedding story you’ll never forget?

It’s gotta be pretty high up there, although there have been others over the years that give even Ian, Amy and the guys from 7626 a run for their money.
