Ian Somerhalder Tweeted a photo this week of our first look at his character on The Vampire Diaries Season 6, leaving many to wonder just why Damon has a chin full of blood.
The veteran vampire concluded Season 5 by holding Bonnie’s hand and getting sucked into… well, we have no idea where. The Other Other side, we guess?
In the run up to the October 2 return of this hit CW drama, creator Julie Plec has said we’ll get more "questions than answers" about Damon’s status at the outset of the new season.
She also said he and Bonnie aren’t exactly on a "roller coaster ride of fun" when we meet back up with them.
In real life, conversely, Somerhalder is enjoying himself just fine, having split from Nina Dobrev but recently having started a new romance with Nikki Reed. They’ve even adopted a horse together.
