Over the weekend, Beth Chapman was hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma.

Her husband Duane asked fans for prayers as Beth’s children raced to her side.

Now, we know more about why doctors had no choice but to place her in a coma.

TMZ offers up an explanation for why Beth Chapman had to be placed in a medically induced coma.

What we already knew was that she was admitted to the hospital in Honolulu on Saturday, June 22.

Now we know that medical staff found it incredibly difficult to treat her.

Beth was reportedly resistant to treatment while en route to the hospital in the ambulance.

She was not reacting well when she arrived to the ER.

To be more specific: upon arrival, poor Beth was in a great deal of pain.

She also required oxygen.

As doctors began to administer the necessary aid, she reportedly began ripping out lines that were used to give her fluids and medications.

(It is not clear what her mental state may have been in the moment)

Because of the yanking, doctors placed her on mild sedation.

Unfortunately, even sedation did not prove to be enough.

Beth’s agitation continued, and doctor’s felt that the best way to preserve her life was to place her in a medically induced coma.

She has now been fully under since that time on Saturday night.

A number of her family members remain by her side.

Of course, her devoted husband, Duane "Dog The Bounty Hunter" Chapman is there for her every step of the way.

In 2017, Beth underwent surgery for her throat cancer and appeared to be cancer-free.

But, as we all know, those who have had cancer have a higher risk of getting it again, and not all surgeries get all cancer.

Beth has been hospitalized, both late in 2018 and early 2019, after her cancer returned.

The 2018 incident involved a tumorous growth in her throat that had to be removed.

Earlier this year, she had a buildup of fluid in her lungs — one of the places to which her cancer has spread.

Both times, she recovered. We hope that she recovers this time, too.

Beth and Duane are both devout Christians and both of them have viewed this illness through a religious lens.

Repeatedly, Beth has referred to this cancer battle as a religious lesson — for her or for fans, depending upon whether she lives or dies.

She says that she does not resent her cancer battle.

Beth has also apologized to her fans for not undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments to combat her cancer.

She simply explained that those options are not for her.

Beth has spent the past several months with her family, including husband Duane.

She explained that she would prefer to spend these months, even if they are her last, with family.

If that means tracking down fugitives with Duane on reality television, then so be it.

We hope that Beth can make a full recovery and spend more time with her loved ones.

Her daughter, Bonnie, has been providing updates through social media.
