Rose McGowan has spoken out on the latest sexual assault allegation to rock Hollywood.

But this one is a little bit different.

As previously reported, it has come out this week that Asia Argento agreed to pay $380,000 to a former child actor accusing her of sexual assault in 2013.

Citing documents submitted to The New York Times anonymously – and verified with three people familiar with the case – the bombshell report claims that Argento agreed to this settlment just a few months ago.

She did so after Jimmy Bennett – who once portrayed Argento’s son in 2004’s The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things – alleged five years back that the then-37-year old Argento raped Bennett when he was 17 years old.

Bennett says in these documents that Argento kissed him prior to performing oral sex on him and engaging in intercourse at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, California.

The alleged incident took place in 2013.

But Argento only just recently settled with Bennett, and she did so just months after she went public with accusations that movie producer Harvey Weinstein raped her.

Argento was one of the first women to make this allegation against Weinstein, helping to set off an avalanche of other accusations and helping to usher in the #MeToo movement in Hollywood.

And across the country, really.

Due to Argento’s role in the Weinstein saga, the fact that she has now been accused of sexual assault herself has left many in the entertainment industry rattled.

Perhaps no one more so than McGowan, who also says she was raped by Weinstein and who has also been vocal on the topic of misogyny in Hollywood.

“I got to know Asia Argento ten months ago," the 44-year-old actress tweeted on Monday morning, not long after the aforementioned New York Times story went viral.

"Our commonality is the shared pain of being assaulted by Harvey Weinstein."

She continued:

“My heart is broken. I will continue my work on behalf of victims everywhere.

"None of us know the truth of the situation and I’m sure more will be revealed. Be gentle."

As for why Bennett waited so long to take make his accusations against Argento know?

The newspaper quoted Gordon K. Sattro, Bennet’s attorney, who wrote in the notice of intent that Bennett’s “feelings about that day were brought to the forefront recently when Ms. Argento took the spotlight as one of the many victims of Harvey Weinstein."

At this point, McGowan and Argento are two of over 60 women who have detailed their horrific experiences at the hands of Weinstein.

Argento, meanwhile, was also in the news a few weeks ago for a different heartbreaking reason:

She was dating Anthony Bourdain at the time this celebrity chef committed suicide.

She Tweeted shortly after his death:

Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did. His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds.

He was my love, my rock, my protector. I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine.
