Especially for Jenelle Evans.
She’s always brought the drama to the show, but this season, she really outdid herself.
Her husband got himself fired after going on a homophobic rant, she likely scarred her son for life when she got a case of road rage so bad that she pulled a gun on some guy …
There was a whole, whole lot of bad stuff.
And during her segment on the reunion special, Dr. Drew tried his best to discuss those things with her.
It didn’t go great.
Oh, Jenelle … Jenelle is a mess. An absolute mess. She always has been, we fear she always will be, and it’s a weird, sad situation.
Totally Normal In addition to being a mess, she’s also becoming a co-dependent shut-in, it seems, because she’s been refusing to attend any MTV events without her creeper husband, David Eason.
A Problem Except MTV fired David for being homophobic garbage, so that’s not exactly in the cards.
Ugh We’ll get into all that, but the point is that David was fired and banned from filming but Jenelle can’t go anywhere without him, so instead of flying out to film the reunion with the rest of the cast, Dr. Drew flew down to her swamp and spoke to her there.
Lots to Discuss Dr. Drew sure had plenty of topics to discuss with Jenelle, since the girl was such a disaster this season.
Classic (MTV) And you know Jenelle had plenty of dumb things to say to Dr. Drew.
“Mommy and David are Pieces of Sh-t” Drew did us all a solid by asking her about one tiny little scene that had a big impact — the one where Jace tells Barbara that “Mommy and David are pieces of sh-t.”
Hmmm … A lot of viewers believed that while it was a weird thing for a kid to say, he did seem to mean it. He said it while discussing Jenelle and David’s treatment of Kaiser, his little brother, and he said it twice and spit on the ground for emphasis and everything.
Denial But Jenelle’s not buying it.
Blame It on Barb “I wonder where he heard that from, because my mom says that all the time,” she said. “That wasn’t really Jace, he’s just trying to make my mom happy by saying that.”
Convenient Sure, it’s Barbara’s fault — everything is, right?
Creeper Alert Dr. Drew then brought up the topic of David’s Twitter rant from back in February … the one that got him fired from the show.
Gross If you blocked it from your memory, sorry to bring it back up, but he kicked off that nasty rant by tweeting to someone who questioned his parenting skills “Lmao why don’t you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals? Oh I forgot thats supposed to be normal.”
Seriously, So Gross He also called gay and transgender people “an abomination,” and said that he would teach his children not to be gay by telling them that “if you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.”
The Defense And you know Jenelle stood by her man when Dr. Drew started coming for him.
Bad Delivery? “He still feels the way he feels,” she explained. “He thinks he shouldn’t have said it the way he did, but he still stands by his views.”
Makes Sense (LOL JK) “He doesn’t hate those people. He just doesn’t want his kids to grow up and be that way,” she said.
Wait for It … This genius actually tried to defend David by going on to say that “Just like if you don’t want you kid to grow up and say, be a doctor, I don’t want you to be a doctor, I want you to be in the military. Some dads are just like that.”
Riiiiight (MTV) You know, it’s just like all those parents who don’t want their kids to be doctors! There are tons of parents like that, right? And also a person choosing a career is the EXACT same thing as a person’s sexuality. Great example, Jenelle!
GIRL STOP (MTV) For real though, it’s painfully obvious that she’s grasping at straws with that nonsense, trying any way she can to make David’s disgusting comments seem not so awful. She failed, as usual.
Terrifying She failed again when she was asked what would happen if one of David’s children turned out to be gay and she answered with “He’ll still love them and adore them but he just wouldn’t support … agree … with their lifestyle.”
What a Hero For her part, she said that she did tell David that he doesn’t “need to be so outspoken,” and that’s good enough, right? Wrong.
Get Her, Dr. Drew! Dr. Drew wasn’t satisfied with her attempts to defend David, but she insisted that he couldn’t help how he felt because it’s just “the way he was raised.”
FINISH HER (Getty Images for The Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation) “If I grew up using hateful language because that’s just what we used in the household, I would try to adjust that, personally,” Drew pointed out.
Oh, OK! (MTV) Jenelle’s defense for that one?
… Sure, Jenelle “His kids didn’t hear him say that, he typed it,” she argued. “He doesn’t run around the house saying, ‘I hate gay people!'”
And Then … Next, Dr. Drew brought up that time that Jenelle got cut off by some guy while driving Jace home from therapy and thought it would be a good idea to follow him to his house and pull a gun on him.
What a Nightmare (MTV) We saw it all happen on the show: she followed the guy down a dirt road, he tried to block her in so she couldn’t leave, she hit his mailbox and pulled a gun on him, and he’s since said that the only reason he didn’t shoot her with his own gun was that he saw Jace in the front seat.
The Worst It was horrifying to watch, and it obviously could have ended terribly, but you know who the victim in this whole thing is?
Clearly! Duh, dude, it’s Jenelle!
For Real? She told Dr. Drew that “Ever since then I’ve been having PTSD, I’ve been having nightmares. When the incident first happened, I didn’t leave my house for two weeks.”
Pitiful “All I thought about is he almost hurt my son, he almost knocked my son out and that’s what pissed me off,” she said.
Small Miracles She did say that she and Jace talked about what happened with his therapist, so that’s something, at least.
Still But what about the scene after the incident, when Barbara came to pick Jace up and he told her that Jenelle had pulled a gun, and Jenelle asked him why he was lying? You know, when she knew Jace was telling the truth and that the cameras in her car filmed everything?
Desperate “I was really desperate at the time,” she explained. “I don’t want to get arrested for something stupid. I told him, I said, listen, I don’t want police thinking the wrong thing if they hear you say that. I told my mom after we were done filming, she knows.”
Come Again? (MTV) Except … if she did get arrested for “something stupid,” it would be something stupid that she did. And if police heard what Jace said, they wouldn’t think “the wrong thing,” because again, she did that. Is she really this delusional?
This Girl (Getty Images) Dr. Drew actually told her that he was scared that one day she’d really shoot someone, and that he worried about “Jace picking up the gun and shooting when you get out of the car.”
Chill, Dude Jenelle, always the rational one, told him that it’s “not a problem,” and that “I have my conceal carry permit. My gun goes with me wherever I go.”
Yikes (MTV) She also said that takes her gun everywhere because she’s scared to go out into the world without David, so … yeah, that’s fine. Completely fine. Not an issue, not concerning at all.
The SHADE (Getty Images) And then Dr. Drew looked into the camera at us, the viewers, and told us that “as many as two children are killed on average per week in unattended shootings. The vast majority of these tragedies are preventable with responsible storage.”
So Far, So Good No word on if Jenelle’s head exploded after he said that, though.
Sigh Look, obviously Jenelle isn’t a responsible gun owner — we saw that much during her road rage fiasco. And obviously David isn’t a loving, caring person who was raised in a homphobic household and therefore can’t help the backwards things he thinks and says.
See You Next Season! But it sure is fun to hear her try to pretend otherwise, isn’t it?
