Back in July, Demi Lovato suffered an overdose that very nearly claimed her life.

After spending more than a week detoxing in a Los Angeles hospital, Demi checked into rehab in a facility in Arizona.

She remained there for 90 days, leaving only to meet with a team of specialists in Chicago.

These days Demi is out of treatment and fully committed to the hard work of recovery.

And that hard work paid off in a big way this week, as Demi reached a major milestone in her treatment.

Yes, it’s now been six months since Lovato ingested an illicit substance of any kind,

She and her team celebrated the occasion with a party, which Demi documented on Instagram.

“Happy 6 mo. We are so f–king proud of you! Love, Team DL,” reads the note in front of the cake in the above pic.

In case there was any doubt about what Demi was referring to, she also posted a photo of a six-month chip from Narcotics Anonymous.

Obviously, like any addict, Demi will need to continue taking things one day at a time.

But celebrations like the one she enjoyed over the weekend serve as a reminder that those days add up.

Naturally, there have been reports of Lovato "falling back into her old lifestyle" in the months since she completed her in-patient treatment.

The fact that Demi is dating Henry Levy has been a particular cause of concern,

Levy is a fellow recovering addict, and romantic relationships of any kind are discouraged for those new to recovery.

Dating fellow addicts is particularly frowned upon.

But those closest to Demi say that she remains fully committed to her recovery — and she’s well aware of what’s at stake.

Prior to her relapse in July, Demi celebrated six years of sobriety.

Family, friends, and fans are confident she’ll get back to that point.

Lovato is known for her strength, resilience, and commitment to self-improvement.

But perhaps most importantly, she’s got the right kind of people in her corner cheering her on.

We wish her all the best in her ongoing battle.
