When Khloe Kardashian finally dumped Tristan Thompson after he was repeatedly caught cheating on her, fans were quick to applaud the move.

But while distancing herself from her philandering baby daddy was almost certainly the right move to make, that doesn’t mean Khloe never looks back on the decision with regret.

After all, Tristan is the father of Khloe’s only child, and the youngest Kardashian daughter has never been shy about expressing her desire for a traditional nuclear family.

Khloe might be the most candid member of her family in every respect, so when she went radio silent in the immediate aftermath of her split from Thompson, fans feared the worst.

Fortunately, Khloe is now back to her forthcoming self, and she spoke about her life-after-breakup in refreshingly blunt fashion during a recent appearance on Laura Wasser’s Divorce Sucks podcast.

“[Our split] does f–king suck. It does,” Khloe stated in a sneak peek of the episode obtained by TMZ .

“Tristan and I broke up not too long ago, so it’s really raw. And so those emotions could be heightened at times, but I do everything in my power.”

From there, Khloe opened up about a challenge that’s all too familiar to many single moms — how to co-parent with a person you really don’t like without raising your child in a hostile environment.

Khloe revealed that 1-year-old True “doesn’t really know what’s happening” at her young age, but “she feels energy.”

“I’m a big believer of that,” she continued.

“I do everything in my power to not put any, sort of, heavy energy around her. Maybe that sounds a little too bohemian to some people.”

The family recently celebrated True’s first birthday, and to the surprise of many, Khloe invited Tristan to attend.

It looked like an olive branch to her ex, but like so much of what she does these days, Khloe’s decision was motivated entirely by her love for her daughter.

“I know that she’s gonna want to look back on all her childhood memories like we all do,” she said.

“Me and my sisters, we will sit on the floor, looking at our old photo albums, talking."

Obviously, Khloe is putting her family first — and her lingering resentment toward Tristan on the backburner.

"I want to give her the same thing," she said of the close-knit environment she enjoyed growing up.

"And I know her dad is a great person, I know how much he loves her and cares about her, so I want him to be there. And it was civilized and we did it.”

Yeah, the Khloe-Tristan breakup was about as ugly as these things get.

But it’s encouraging to hear that both parties are prioritizing True’s needs above their own self-interest.
