While Lisa Vanderpump has talked s–t about her former castmates in her own special way, she’s been lerry of delving too deeply into why she quit.

Until now, that is.

In a new interview, Lisa discusses her departure from the franchise, saying: "I don’t have room in my life for nastiness."

In a new interview with People, Lisa Vanderpump opens up for the first time about leaving the Real Housewives franchise.

"I had a great time on Housewives,” she begins.

“But to have negativity during a time in my life when I needed to try to be positive … I decided it was over," Lisa explains.

Naturally, she is referring to the tragic death by suicide of her brother just months before the season.

"I shouldn’t have even committed to do that season,” Lisa now acknowledges.

“If I had had my choice, I would have just wallowed in grief," she expresses.

Lisa admits: "I wasn’t ready."

That is a very reasonable response to the sudden death of a sibling. Diving back in to your life can cause unintended consequences.

Another factor in her decision to drop from the show, of course, was Puppygate.

"I’ve been in a position where the whole cast has been against me before,” Lisa acknowledges.

“But this time, our foundation was taking a bashing from the women," she accuses.

Lisa affirms: "And it didn’t deserve it."

"And suddenly, to start dealing with them all screaming and shouting at me on that first trip [to the Bahamas]," Lisa reflects.

She recalls: "I thought, ‘What the hell am I doing?’"

"And that was really it," Lisa summarizes.

Most Housewives are already wealthy, but Lisa is obscenely rich and can quit any job that she wants to at any time.

Lisa also openly derides conspiracy theories that she somehow engineered Puppygate for her own machinations.

"Why would I want to shine a light on the fact that one of our dogs ended up in a kill shelter?" she argues.

Lisa once again emphasizes: "I know that nothing with Dorit was intentional."

"But it all just became too much quite frankly," she laments.

"I just had more things going on in my life at that time,” Lisa says.

It’s true — she manages a number of good works, including animal rescue programs and LGBTQ+ causes.

“[Grief] encourages you to take stock," she points out.

Lisa states: "I’m a strong woman, but I don’t have room in my life for nastiness."

Lisa says that she does not often speak to her erstwhile castmates, but notes that  "a couple of people reached out" after her mother passed.

“That was nice," she remarks.

"I don’t want to shoot arrows,” Lisa emphasizes. “And I don’t want to get down in the dirt and react to every negative thing these women have said about me."

She affirms: "That’s not who I am, nor who I want to be."

"I don’t want to look back on my time on The Housewives as a negative experience,” Lisa Vanderpump insists.

“I had wonderful moments and laughs and giggles," she reflects.

"But I have no regrets about leaving," she concludes. "And I’ve moved on."
