Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are vocal environmentalists who have been accused of hypocrisy for taking a private jet.

Sir Elton John already defended the royal couple, and he did not mince words when slamming the shameful tabloids.

Now, Ellen DeGeneres is adding her voice into the mix. Take a look:

Ellen took to social media to speak her mind about Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their use of a private jet to travel to Nice.

"Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan in England," Ellen reminds her fans and followers.

Portia DeGeneres, known as Portia de Rossi in her acting credits, is of course Ellen’s wife.

Ellen goes on to explain that they met with the royal couple "to talk about their work on wildlife conservation."

"They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people," the comedian and talk show host recalls.

Ellen goes on to urge anyone reading her message to have empathy for the Prince and Duchess.

"Imagine being attacked for everything you do," Ellen suggests.

British tabloids have been particularly vicious to Meghan, and all royals live under a microscope.

She concludes that it’s almost impossible to do anything if you’re judged "when all you’re trying to do is make the world better."

That is an extremely fair point.

The criticism leveled at Harry and Meghan is a familiar one.

They are both passionate about the environment, and yet they took a private jet in order to travel.

By virtue of their royal lifestyle, they are naturally going to have a larger carbon footprint than your average citizen of the planet.

In this instance, they took a private jet to Nice to visit Sir Elton John, who is of course a family friend of Prince Harry’s.

The music legend also staunchly defended the pair after tabloids decided to create a fuss over their mode of transportation.

"I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press," Sir Elton John announced.

He clarifies that the drama was "surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week.”

No one wants to see their friends excoriated and accused of hypocrisy in the media.

That is extra true for someone who may feel indirectly responsible because the story involves visiting them.

“Prince Harry’s Mother’ Diana Princess of Wales was one of my dearest friends," Elton reminds the world.

The incomparable singer makes it extremely clear that he is solidly in the royal couple’s corner.

"I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family," he writes.

Elton wants to shield them "from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death."

That is one hell of a defense.

It’s one thing to stand up for your friends. It’s another to remind the entire British tabloid industry that you blame them for your friend’s death.

Why would someone take a private jet if they claim to care about the environment?

As we mentioned, this sort of accusation of "hypocrisy" is leveled at celebrity environmentalists all of the time.

It’s not a good-faith argument. It’s instead a question intended to silence voices calling for change.

In reality, we all exist within society. That doesn’t magically stop as we use our words to lobby for positive change.

No one realistically expects Meghan and Harry to fly like peasants on a commercial plane, but they sure love giving them a hard time.
