90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? returned after taking a week off to deliver Season 6, Episode 11.
First, Angela has blocked Michael on everything, but not even that can shield him from her next screaming fit.
Brandon and Julia have already signed the lease on their next place, and now have to break the news to Brandon’s parents.
Andrei’s first meeting with Elizabeth’s extended family doesn’t exactly go smoothly.
Jovi arrives home after four long months away, and Yara takes him to see their new home for the first time.
Asuelu drops a bombshell on Kalani, but that’s nothing beside what his family has in store.
It’s the day of Natalie’s surgery … but after an argument, she ghosted Mike.
And Ronald’s transparent attempts to use Daniel to manipulate Tiffany have not gone unnoticed.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi
Angela is angry. That might seem like her default disposition when she’s not loudly laughing at herself, but in this case, she’s angry because of (you guessed it) Michael. She has blocked him on everything.
Her daughter comes into the room
Skyla (not to be confused with Scottie, Angela’s convicted child-molester daughter who was recently spotted partying near children with Angela) comes in to complain that Michael has been blowing up her phone. She is not, she reminds her mother, a marriage counselor.
To no one’s surprise
Angela is still smoking. She also just smokes indoors, like it’s The Purge, even though this is the same house where her grandchildren live. (That said, clearly she feels fine exposing her grandchildren to things more dangerous than carcinogens)
Angela reluctantly agrees to sit down and call her husband
She almost immediately begins screaming that she is an “American” and that this is the “LAND OF THE FREE.” Please, the rest of us would not like to be associated with her.
She accused Michael of being disrespectful
She then went on to viciously mock him, to belittle and insult him, to demand that he shut up. In a more civilized world, it would be illegal to speak to someone in that manner, let alone to one’s spouse.
Like a feral animal
Angela once again smokes indoors and then accuses Michael of somehow causing her to smoke, saying that she only does it when she deals with him. That is … ma’am, we all just saw you smoking. Also that’s not how smoking works.
Michael explains why he isn’t groveling this time
He’s tired of being Angela’s verbal and emotional punching bag, so he’s not just begging for her forgiveness for whatever has her pissed off this time.
He stands his ground
A furious Angela eventually hangs up on him. Then she speaks to the producers, telling them that if he’d tried to distract her with kindness, he’d have made her happy. This is one twisted woman.
Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina
They are on their way to look at a new apartment. Last time, it was a silly and staged-for-the-cameras peek at a place that they cannot afford. This time, it’s different.
This Richmond apartment is much more reasonable
It’s very new. In fact, he and Julia have already seen it … and signed the lease.
How will Brandon’s parents react?
Brandon’s toxic, overbearing parents have held him back for years. And he and Julia admit to the cameras that every time that they’ve brought up moving to them, his parents have a meltdown.
They take Betty and Ron to see the place before the tell them
Just thinking that their precious newborn infant son (who is almost 30) might live in this apartment has Betty and Ron immediately start looking for flaws. The kitchen and living room are open concept, as is often the case in smaller apartments. Even they can’t deny that it looks and smells very new.
But it’s not large
After noting that the bedroom seems small to her, Betty says that the place can’t compare to “10 acres.” Okay, Betty — 10 acres of what? Because not everyone wants to live on a farm. Brandon and Julia don’t dream of living a farming life.
But the windows!
Betty and Ron note that the windows don’t have much of a view … because they’re in a city. Fortunately, Brandon and Julia both have screens that can show them whatever they want to see. Also, they have their own lives. Not everyone has the time or inclination to look out windows. Either Betty is obsessed with scenery or she just wanted to point out every conceivable flaw.
TOO LATE
Brandon and Julia reveal that they have, in fact, already signed the lease.
Betty and Ron are thrilled! (Just kidding)
They look stunned, angry, and betrayed to learn that their (again, in his late twenties) adult son with a wife and a full time job had the audacity to sign this lease without telling them (and thus not giving them a chance to sabotage him with another meltdown). They move out in two weeks, which means that Betty and Ron might have to (gasp!) actually pay someone for farm labor if they want help.
Ron thinks Julia is “manipulating” Brandon
To him, that they kept this as a surprise means that Julia is playing Brandon against his parents. What is she manipulating him into, Ron? Into being happy? We should all be so lucky as to have our loved ones flourish and live their own lives.
This is so sweet
Julia and Brandon will certainly face challenges in the future, and they both have some growth to achieve, but you can’t help but be happy for them. Like … living at home with Betty and Ron might be free financially, but the cost to their mental and emotional health is just too high.
Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet
With Andrei driving the RV, tensions are high and everyone is tired after another long day in the oversized vehicle. Libby has rented an AirBnB for the night.
But Washington DC was not designed for huge RVs
Andrei is having trouble making it down the street, and getting crankier by the second as he squeezes between parked cars and the median.
He’s done!
Andrei gives up on the rental, and the family will sleep somewhere else. Andrei loudly blames his wife, accusing Libby of not planning ahead.
But she DID call ahead and ask about parking
Libby does not appreciate being thrown under the RV, so to speak, by her own husband when she did ask ahead. Everybody’s cranky, but that’s just disrespectful.
The next night
They head to Chuck’s sister’s house, where Andrei is to make his first impression upon even more of his in-laws.
It almost starts off well
Despite Libby’s concerns, things are going okay and everyone is hoping for a chill night.
But some have reservations
Both Chuck’s sister and father have concerns about Andrei entering the family business with nothing to offer, not working his way up, and first asking for a loan. Charlie, as you can imagine, is not helpful. It’s a mess … and soon, even more relatives will arrive.
Jovi Dufren and Yara Zaya
Jovi is finally returning home after four long months of repairing underwater pipelines, spending much of his time on boats. Mylah was a newborn when he left. She is now four months old.
Yara is overwhelmed
Despite her cool exterior, Yara is a human being with lots of feelings about her husband and their family. She is so happy that Jovi is home.
Awwww!
At the airport, Yara spotted Jovi before his mom or his stepdad did. He was so excited to see her and Mylah.
Jovi is SO happy … to see Mylah
In his fatherly excitement, Jovi may have understated his happiness at seeing Yara, which even his mom commented on.
Jovi just can’t help himself
He mentioned being excited to take normal showers again now that he’s no longer living on a boat. He also liked that Yara is doing his laundry. Yara’s response was … very appropriate.
Dude, no
Yara teased him lovingly for praising her for housework instead of talking about how much he missed her as a person.
They take Jovi to his new home
Jovi has not seen this new place, but it’s 40 minutes outside of New Orleans — further away than he had hoped. There are restaurants and shops near these suburbs, but no convenient nearby bars. And that’s just fine.
This is deliberate
Yara knows Jovi and his habits. He has enjoyed partying and going out regularly and hasn’t really slowed down in that. Him staying out late, even shortly before their wedding, has been a problem in the past. If they were still just a couple, that would be one thing, but he needs to be there with her and Mylah, which takes a lot of choices out of their hands.
Yara is so civilized
Sometimes on these shows you see someone wear shoes inside a house and you’re like “is this for the cameras or do you actually live like this?”
Jovi talks to Yara about the new home
He is concerned that he will be “bored” living here, and that Yara will too. But this new home fits their new lifestyle as parents better. (Also, not to be mean, but the internet exists — if you’re bored, it’s a choice)
Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa
Kalani and Asuelu are still basking in the glow from their weekend cabin adventure, despite it including their kids and Kalani’s mom.
They go car shopping
It is almost indistinguishable from taking Oliver or Kennedy car shopping, except that Asuelu has some surprise opinions.
He’s drawn to a white minivan
After looking at efficient cars that get good mileage, Kalani is weirded out by his interest in a vehicle that seats so many.
The salesman agrees
If Asuelu is going to be working in a rideshare company, he’ll want good mileage … but then Asuelu drops a bomb on everyone, that their family is going to get bigger.
Um, that’s news to Kalani
Speaking one-on-one, she tells him that if he wants a third kid, that would be something to talk about with her, not with a stranger.
Kalani tries to talk him out of it
She reminds him that her boobs are pretty busy but she’s weaning their kids, and doesn’t he miss having her breasts all to himself? Asuelu answers bluntly.
But he thinks of a “solution” if they have baby #3
Asuelu doesn’t seem to be understanding how baby bottles work.
Hypothetically, how many kids does he want?
For a family where neither parent has a job other than reality stardom, that seems … a little odd. But seven is an almost alarmingly high number of children for any family. It happens, but it’s very rare — and, as Kalani explains, extremely expensive.
Asuelu doesn’t get it
He and Kalani both come from large families … and grew up struggling financially as a result. To Asuelu, who has nine siblings, it’s normal. He also resents that Kalani isn’t really letting him have an opinion on it, because it’s her body and not his that would have the kids.
Later, Asuelu talks about it with Lesina
Asuelu’s mother, who may be the worst mother-in-law to ever appear on the series (yes, even worse than Betty), is also baffled by why Kalani wouldn’t go for having more kids immediately, as Lesina considers it Kalani’s “job” as Asuelu’s wife. Yikes.
Lesina wants to come visit
Before she returns to Samoa, she wants to see Asuelu. She also plans on coming with Tammy, Asuelu’s sister — the one who threatened to beat up Kolini and who LUNGED at Kalani.
Asuelu is nervous at the idea of Tammy coming along
But because he was brought up to give an irrational amount of deference to his parents, Asuelu agrees to let his mom visit with Tammy along, too. Oh, and he’s going to pay for the hotel room, too.
Mike Youngquist and Natalie Mordovtseva
The two came to Seattle the day before Natalie’s nasal surgery to remove polyps from her nose. However, they had an argument about what went down in Oklahoma and Natalie left to stay with her friend. Now it’s the day of her surgery, and Mike can’t get a hold of her.
He rides around the parking lot with producers
He’s looking for his pickup truck, which Natalie used to drive off.
He finds it
And after brief consideration, he unlocks the door and just drives off … presumably while Natalie is in surgery. Mike’s attitude is, at first, clearly a response to how hurt he feels that Natalie went from wanting him by her side during the procedure to ghosting him.
But Mike has a change of heart
He realizes that he needs to be there for his wife, so he picks her up and drives her home while she is recovering from the surgery. In the car, she is already noticing that she can actually smell again.
Recovery isn’t always pretty
However, things seem good between them, and Mike does a decent job of getting bags from the car and feeding Natalie.
But …
Despite the relative piece at the moment, it seems like they will very soon clash again over unresolved issues and hurt feelings.
Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith
In America, “homely” means that someone is unattractive. In British English, “homely” refers to what Americans would call “homey” — cozy and inviting surroundings. Ronald is presumably using the latter meaning as he takes the family to get Christmas decorations.
It’s all part of the plan
He is transparently using this excursion and just asking Daniel if he wants to spend the holidays there in order to strongarm Tiffany into overstaying. And it’s working.
Tiffany sees what’s happening
Ronald is manipulating Daniel to back Tiffany into a corner, and she’s unhappy with it. It’s not mature and it’s not the way that partners should behave.
Still, they’re having fun
They go to some sort of kitschy Christmas-related store that would frankly be a nightmare for many of us, but none of us can blame Daniel for enjoying the place. Despite his maturity for his age, he’s just a kid.
But Ronald does admit to being manipulative
When Tiffany calls him out on it to the confessional camera, Ronald wholeheartedly agrees that this is what he’s doing.
He runs up quite the bill
It’s over ten THOUSAND in South African currency, but converting rand to USD, it comes out to just under $700 … which is a tremendous amount to spend on impulsively purchased Christmas decorations that you might either have to give away or bring with you on an intercontinental move in the next year.
Even the next day, Tiffany is worried about it
Ronald said that it was no big deal because he put it on his credit card, but with his history of financial woes, Tiffany fears that this display of generosity was also a display of irresponsibility.
Ronald’s mom, Ria, joins them
Ronald suddenly turns into a superdad with his mom around, when he’s been struggling to actually help with Carley before this. Tiffany shares her concerns with Ronald’s mom when they get a chance to speak.
Ria thinks that she understands
She says that it feels like Ronald is trying to impress Daniel and maybe overcompensate for how long the pandemic kept them all apart. She also offers to babysit the kids for a night while Tiffany and Ronald go on a date. That’s so sweet!
A quick aside
Tiffany apparently told Daniel when he was younger that mommies and daddies share “a special kiss” in order to conceive babies. While this is … not really helpful for parents to tell children in the long run, she was a young parent and probably just thinking on her feet. (I got “the talk” when I was like 4 or 5, so it’s hard to imagine a 9-year-old not knowing that sex exists) Sharing the anecdote of Daniel excitedly asking his mom, years ago, if she and Ronald shared a “special kiss” after she revealed that she was pregnant with his sister was really cute.
Unfortunately, date night is considerably less cute
When Tiffany brings up her worries, Ronald more or less summarizes his whole personality in one line — by getting defensive. He does things and just does not seem willing to hear any feedback on his behavior, even when he admits to his motives.
Lovely
Ronald storms off, presumably leaving Tiffany to pick up the tab. Great date night, everyone!
