Teen Mom OG featured an unexpected return on October 29, 2018.
The MTV drama also revealed something unfortunate about one of the kids featured each week, along with more fighting between Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer.
Yes, it remains ugly between the estranged former spouses.
Hi There, Mackenzie Standifer (MTV) Standifer had said she was done with the show, but she joined Ryan Edwards’ parents, Jen and Larry Edwards, for a conversation about Bentley’s schooling on this installment.
The 10-Year Old Should Attend Private School “Ryan’s put the money in the education account, so the funding is there for him,” Jen said about her grandson’s future, agreeing with Mackenzie that Bentley should be educated in a private facility. “He’s pretty much adamant about him not going to public school.”
Amen! Mackenzie chimed in here, adding that her husband is “dead set” on the idea and saying: “A friend of mine is the admissions director, but Maci has to be the one to do all the paperwork. She has to be the one to really get it going.”
Wait a Minute… (MTV) Bookout grew irritated that Jen and Larry would even put the idea of private school into Bentley’s head … without discussing it with her first. She told her son that just because he wants to go, doesn’t mean he’s gets to go. It’s more complicated than that.
Why Not Go Public? (MTV) Speaking to Taylor McKinney about the topic, Maci explained her stance: “It’s almost like he thinks because you have to pay for it, it’s special. Part of me thinks that, just for the fact that Bentley has grown up in an odd family situation and on TV, public school is better for him [because] he gets exposed to a lot of different walks of life than his. I don’t want Bentley to think he is on a pedestal or belongs on one, being on TV … He just expects when he wants something, at Jen and Larry’s, he gets it.”
What About Bristol and Dakota? The divorce was a go and Bristol was prepared to move out. Talking to one of the show’s producers, Palin explained that she and her ex-husband still needed to hammer out custody details for their two daughters — and that she’s heartbroken to see how Meyer has allegedly iced out her son with Levi Johnston, Tripp.
In What Way? “He hasn’t reached out to Tripp and Tripp is crushed by it,” Bristol said, “it breaks my heart and I’m grateful Tripps dad is doing amazing.” (This wasn’t alwayd the case, but she and Johnston now get along well.)
The Disagreements Continue (MTV) Bristol and Dakota sat down at one point and argued about their daughters because the former wanted them to attend her sister’s wedding, while the latter wasn’t having it.
Fine. Whatever. “They can go, I don’t care,” Meyer finally said, relenting but also showing his annoyance. “I’m telling you, I think it’s crazy for a whole week to go to Alaska, just for a wedding. You can take them any week.”
I’m a Failure Meyer later attended a baseball game where he threw out the first pitch and spoke to a friend, touching on the death of his military team in 2009’s Battle of Ganjgal: “I failed the most important people in my life.”
How Did This Affect His Marriage? In many ways, naturally, but specifically in this case, Dakota said: “You don’t even want to bring anyone in your life; you don’t want to fail them too.”
Let’s Move on to Tyler and Catelynn… Tyler’s sister, Amber, made an appearance. She had been struggling with addiction, prompting Tyler and Catelynn to kick her out of the home they used to live in. When they went to check out the house afterward, they found it looking like a total dump.
What a Mess “I feel like walking into a hoarder house,” said Catelynn. There were broken windows… holes in the walls … and doors with chunks cut right out of them. Ugly, gross stuff all around.
What Up, Tyler?!? (MTV) Tyler’s mom took Amber to rehab and and noted that Tyler seemed like he had no empathy for his sister. She said he sounded bitter about his dad, Amber and sort of even Catelynn — who was right next to him at the time. Tyler didn’t really say otherwise.
What About Cheyenne? (MTV) Cheyenne Floyd, meanwhile, opened the episode by second guessing her breakup from Zach — but most of her storyline revolved around daughter Ryder’s VLCAD diagnosis.
What Does That Mean? Her child was born with very-long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, which means she can’t process fatty foods. On this episode, we saw little Ryder get her blood tested to see if she’ll need to stay on medication to keep everything in check.
Explained Floyd: “When she was first born she had to eat every two hours,” the new cast member said. “She has to take medicine in the morning and in the night. Since it’s genetic, it’s something that she’ll always have.”
Ending on a Happy Note Floyd received positive results from her daughter’s latest medical test. It’s possible she may not needs meds for awhile. But the whole thing just sucks. “It’s scary to hear that she can go into shock,” Cheyenne admitted. “It’s scary to hear that she can go into a coma. The fact that that’s realistic, that scares me.”
And Amber? Amber’s brother, Shawn, came to Los Angeles to meet his nephew. He listened as Amber admitted to heavy drinking in the past, but said she has never been happier or healthier than she is now.
