Lamar Odom has seemingly found the woman with whom he wants to spend the rest of his life.
But while the former National Basketball Association power forward has officially asked Sabrina Parr to be a member of his family…
… an actual member of Odom’s family is pretty upset about this development.
This is an overly complicated way of saying that Lamar Odom’s son is pissed his dad just got engaged.
The former husband of Khloe Kardashian took many fans by surprise late on Monday when he confirmed via Instagram that he had proposed to his girlfriend of just three months.
“Introducing my new fiancée!! Soon to be Mrs. Parr-Odom,” Odom captioned the post adding quite simply and sweetly:
“She the ONE!!!!! @getuptoparr.”
Odom included with this annoucement the photo above, which features the couple at a fancy restaurant in Miami.
As you can likely see, it also features Parr wearing her enormous new diamond engagement ring.
Parr, who works as a health and life coach, passed along the major news herself in an Instagram video.
“I SAID YES!!!!!!” she captioned this social post, showing off her large rock and two photos as she and Odom dined at this same establishment.
Parr added the hashtags #mrsparrodom and #lamarandsabrina to this message.
She and Odom have only been together since August, which may explain why Lamar’s own son initially reacted with some harsh words after his dad made the announcement.
Although… it sounds as if the way his dad made the announcement is really what rankled 17-year old Lamar Jr.
“Not a text or a phone call to see how people who’ve know this dude his whole life to see how we would feel or react," wrote Lamar Jr. last night, adding:
"Knew shawty for 4 months and already got you twisted. Family n friends already don’t approve of homegirl but already she got your ass inna sunken place.
"Shame family gotta find out on social media but that’s been how life been all the time as the son of an Odom."
Yikes, huh?
Based on our understanding, Odom is sadly not very close to his teenage son.
But one would still hope he’d have given Lamar Jr. a heads-up about the impending proposal, right?
Just hours after trashing his dad for getting engaged, however, Lamar Odom Jr., took to Instagram to issue an apology.
“Last night I was emotional seeing my father got engaged through social media,” he wrote.
Concluded the 17-year old:
“I was hurt and caught off-guard. At the end of the day, I am a teenager that is becoming a young man.
"I have to be responsible for what I post, I have nothing but love for my dad and want what’s best for him."
That’s rather mature of him, isn’t it?
About three weeks before popping this life-altering question, Odom beseeched folks to stop asking about Khloe and to start realizing he truly is in love.
This is what he wrote:
Outside of my daughter, this is the most serious and committed relationship I’ve ever been in with a woman. I’m tired of people asking me questions about my ex’s based on old interviews and old comments!
I said what I said then based on where I was in life at that time.
I was young, wasn’t sober and going through a lot. All of that is different now. I’m at where I want to be at!
Khloe, meanwhile, is yet to issue a statement in response to this news.
She and Lamar were married for four years and both have often said the other is his or her real soulmate.
