Though she hasn’t yet confirmed it publicly, it’s pretty clear that Taylor Swift’s “Out of the Woods” is about Harry Styles.

Recently, Taylor spoke about her breakup with Harry during an exclusive listening party with a group of fans, and Swfity diehards have parsed the lyrics and found numerous clues that the singer had Styles on the mind when she wrote the song.

Obviously, there’s nothing new or unusual about Taylor writing about ex-boyfriends and broken hearts. After all, intimate breakup ballads have been her bread and butter ever since her first single hit the airwaves back in 2006.

Yes, Taylor has used her love life as inspiration throughout her career and it’s a practice that’s often made her the butt of jokes. This time around, however, Swift isn’t taking the criticism lying down.

Last week, British pop star and television personality Olly Murs, offered the following take on Taylor’s latest single:

“Come on, let it go. Write something new that isn’t about Harry. Bless him, it’s been like two years and he’s still getting lashed out, isn’t he?”

Today, Taylor shot back with a biting takedown of Murs’ critique:

“I think frankly that’s a very sexist angle to take. No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says that about Bruno Mars. They’re writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life and no one raises a red flag there.”

Murs says he’s reached out to Swift and apologized and there’s no bad blood between them.

Looks like the days of the shrinking violet Taylor are over. Anyone who saw Swift’s reaction to John Cleese dissing her cat knows that this is not a girl to be messed with.
