The Wendy Williams divorce saga took a new, ugly and allegedly violent turn this morning.
According to TMZ, the talk show host’s estranged husband, Kevin Hunter, and the ex-couple’s 18-year old son, Kevin Jr., got into a major altercation early this morning.
The celebrity gossip site claims that the following transpired just after midnight on Wednesday:
Wendy took Kevin Jr. to the family’s home in New Jersey to grab a few items, telling her son she’d be back in a little while to pick him up.
Unbeknownwt to Kevin Jr. at the time, however, his father was inside the house.
Despite a great deal of tension between Senior and Wendy – due to the latter’s recent divorce filing, which came in the wake of Senior’s mistress giving birth to his baby – insiders close to the situation say father and son were cordial with each other.
They got along so well that they even decided to visit a store together.
But this is when things took a turn.
In the store parking lot, Kevin Jr. and Senior got into an argument over the latter asking Williams for spousal support.
We’re assuming the teenager took exception to this, believing his dad had already put his mother through enough pain and he shouldn’t now be asking for her money as well.
Kevin Sr. then went off, and claiming Wendy was "brainwashing" their son against him
These TMZ sources say it got physical when Kevin Sr. allegedly put his son in a headlock and told Kevin Jr. punched his father in the nose to break the hold.
Police were called to the scene and have confirmed some sort of "incident" did, indeed, take place between the relatives.
"I love my son very much and I will not be pursuing this matter legally. Things are not always how they appear," Kevin Sr. said to TMZ after the story went viral.
You’ll excuse us, however, if we don’t think Kevin Sr. is a very reliable source.
He has carried on an affair for years and was finally exposed as a cheater this spring when his mistress gave birth.
The scandal prompted Williams to fall off the wagon and enter a sober living facility.
She eventually came to her sense, however, and filed to divorce Hunter, prior to also firing him as a producer on her talk show.
The polarizing television personality has referenced this failed relationship a few times on air of late, while Hunter has admitted to the affair.
“28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world,” Hunter said in his first, way-over-the-top comments since the divorce filing.
He continued at the time:
"I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs."
And he concluded:
"No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine.
"I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you."
Hey, man, you stop assaulting your son in public and we’ll do our best to leave you alone.
Okay? Do we have a deal?
Good.
