Pete Davidson has experienced numerous ups and downs over the course of his years in the spotlight.

These days, Davidson is a new dad with a slew of exciting movie and TV projects on the horizon.

But he didn’t always have so many reasons to be optimistic about his future, and in a new interview, he opened up about his darkest days.

In a wide-ranging conversation published by Variety on Wednesday, Pete revealed that at the height of his drug use, the situation was so bad that his mother was afraid she would “see on the news that something nad had happened.”

“It was K. I was getting liquid and cooking it,” he says, referring to the psychedelic drug ketamine.

“And I would do acid and shrooms and whippets and smoke weed all day and eat pills every day. It got scary because I didn’t feel high. I felt high when I wasn’t doing it, so I was like, this is a huge problem.”

Davidson added that he sought help after an emotional phone call in which his mother urged him to get clean.

“She told me her biggest fear was waking up one day to see on the news that something bad had happened to me,” recalls Davidson.

“I reached a point where I couldn’t do that to her anymore.”

These days, Pete has clearly turned a corner in his life and career.

While his relationship with Elsie Hewitt may have fizzled, insiders say the exes are dedicated to amicably co-parenting their daughter together.

Pete is about to star alongside Nicolas Hoult in the highly anticipated action thriller How to Rob a Bank. And he credits his new lease on life to his daughter.

Davidson says he’s sober these days, with the exception of “four beers a year.”

“I don’t f—k with drugs anymore. It’s been two or three years from doing really hard stuff and about a year or more from weed,” he explains, adding:

“Weirdly, the hardest thing to stop was weed. And now it’s easy because I have a kid. Anytime there’s ever a thought, I look at my phone background and go, ‘Oh yeah, no.’”

Davidson says he’d previously gone to rehab for the benefit of other people in his life, but this time, he got clean for the right reasons:

“It can’t be for anyone or for a job. You really have to want it, and when you’re done, you’re done,” he told Variety.

If you’ve spent any time online this week, then you’ve no doubt heard about the horrific allegations coming out of Cornell University.

Now, a former student who has been accused of gang rape is speaking out through his attorney.

Gillio Lopes is one of seven former Chi Phi fraternity members named in a civil lawsuit filed by a former Cornell student, identified as Jane Doe, who alleges she was drugged and sexually assaulted inside the fraternity house in October 2024.

Lopes is pushing back on those allegations in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“Cornell previously investigated this matter and developed an extensive factual record,” attorney Tara J. Davis told TMZ.

“The allegations now being made publicly differ in significant respects from the accounts provided during that investigation and do not reflect the complete record,” Davis added.

Lopes’ legal team says those differences will become a central issue as the case moves forward.

“Those inconsistencies will be tested through discovery and addressed in the litigation,” Davis said.

Lopes’ attorney previously gave CBS News a similarly forceful statement, saying that her client “unequivocally denies the allegations against him” and emphasizing that accusations are not proof.

The allegations stem from an October 2024 incident at Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity house. Jane Doe claims she was intoxicated and later given drugs before being sexually assaulted by multiple fraternity members.

She subsequently reported the incident to Cornell police.

Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten announced this week that his office is reopening its criminal investigation and plans to present the evidence to a grand jury. No criminal charges have been filed against Lopes or the other men at this time.

The DA has said that the account provided by Jane Doe in 2024 differed substantially from allegations contained in her more recent civil lawsuit. Specifically, Van Houten has said her original statement did not allege that she had been drugged against her will or gang raped.

At the same time, attorneys for Jane Doe have disputed that characterization and pointed to additional evidence, including interviews and messages that they say support her account.

Cornell has also confirmed that its own investigation resulted in disciplinary action against several of the accused students. According to the university, two were expelled and two others were suspended for at least two semesters. The Chi Phi chapter was also closed and remains barred from campus.

For now, Lopes remains adamant that he did not sexually assault the woman.

And with the criminal investigation now being revisited, his defense team appears prepared to challenge the allegations in court.

And more than a thousand miles away, another accused killer is speaking about her connection with the Clancy case.

As you may have heard, Christa Pike is preparing to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years.

And as the convicted murderer awaits her fate, she says she feels an unexpected connection to Clancy.

Pike, now 50, was 18 when she was convicted of participating in the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She was sentenced to death and is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection this week.

In a recent interview conducted through her attorneys, Pike discussed Clancy’s case and said she sees similarities between the two women, particularly when it comes to mental illness and the way women’s struggles are understood by the legal system.

“I feel a kinship with Lindsay,” Pike said, according to The Times of London (via The New York Post).

“We are both females who got into trouble because of uniquely female issues,” she added.

Clancy, of course, has spent the past several years at the center of her own highly publicized legal battle. She has admitted to killing her three children in 2023, while her defense argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and therefore should not be held criminally responsible.

That trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month after jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict. Clancy remains hospitalized while prosecutors and her defense team navigate what comes next.

Pike said she was pleased with the outcome.

“I am pleased she received a mistrial and is getting the help she needs,” Pike said.

She also argued that her own case might have been viewed differently if it had gone to trial under today’s understanding of mental health and brain development.

“I think so, because science about brain development has evolved,” Pike said when asked whether jurors might have shown her more compassion today.

Pike claims that her mental-health history was not adequately presented during her 1996 trial. Her attorneys now point to a history of severe trauma, PTSD, and bipolar disorder as factors that should have been considered when she was sentenced to death.

“There are so many women who don’t get the help they need: me and others,” Pike said.

She also believes race played a role in the severity of her punishment, noting that her boyfriend at the time was Black.

“While racism has not gone away, it has diminished some,” Pike said. “I think I was more harshly judged because of my relationship with Tadaryl.”

Pike’s scheduled execution has prompted a last-minute legal effort from her attorneys, who have asked the Supreme Court to intervene. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has declined to grant clemency.

Meanwhile, Pike says she is not afraid of what comes next.

“I am not afraid to die,” she recently said.

There is a new twist in the horror of the Cornell gang rape case.

Previously, the District Attorney had said that his information, prior to the lawsuit, was that there was a consensual encounter with a conscious woman.

That was before the transcripts of Jane Doe’s interview came out.

Now, prosecutors are saying that campus police seem to have withheld key details of the case.

Why would Cornell University Police allegedly withhold key details?

CBS News got a hold of the transcript of Jane Doe’s interview with Cornell Campus Police in November of 2024.

“I can say with 100% confidence, I was raped,” she told investigators, according to the transcript.

Also during the interview, Jane Doe recalled that she was “completely and totally incapacitated” during the assault.

This is news to the District Attorney, whose office previously received a summary of the investigation.

In that summary, campus police claimed that the unnamed victim had told them that the encounter was voluntary, conscious, and consensual.

District Attorney Matthew Van Houten says that he never saw the full transcript from Jane Doe’s November 2024 interview.

Instead, he only saw the results of the investigation and the way that the university had framed it.

The subtext to all of this, as multiple outlets have noted, appears to be an allegation.

Van Houten vowed: “If she had said those words, we certainly would want to have explored that more. Like I said, that wasn’t provided to me.”

Even without an alleged coverup, it is difficult to find justice for survivors

Unfortunately, crimes like the alleged gang rape that Cornell University appears to have consciously attempted to sweep under the rug are nothing new.

It is so common for universities to utterly fail rape survivors that there have been studies on how these survivors move on.

Those who react to the total lack of real consequences for the monsters among them with denial are often able to complete their educations, even if they will certainly have long-term psychological and emotional consequences.

Meanwhile, those who do not lapse into denial often end up switching schools (if they can afford to) or dropping out, grappling with the initial assault as well as the university’s indifference (at best) to the crimes against them.

When it comes to the Cornell 7, many have pointed out that the university did take disciplinary action, but it was so lacking in substance that, according to Jane Doe’s lawsuit, only two were expelled. Others were allegedly allowed to write essays.

This seems to indicate, as many on social media have pointed out, that the university wasn’t denying Jane Doe’s allegations — but simply didn’t view it as serious.

(Or, as others counter, viewed these serious allegations as less important than the university’s reputation. How is that working out?)

None of these men faced charges or prosecutions, let alone convictions or prison. That’s consistent with a massive, depressing statistic about sexual assault and legal consequences.

The good news is that the faces and names of these alleged gang rapists have leaked. Even if prosecutors fail to bring them to justice, social sanction can cause them to face some consequences. (People online are already contacting some employers; to be fair, most employers would genuinely like to know this sort of thing.)

The bad news is that, even if charged, tried, and convicted, a trial will put Jane Doe through hell, and consequences for rape in our legal system tend to be disturbingly lenient.

There is little justice to be found in our justice system. But we can always hope for an exception.

Yes, it seems that Harry and Meghan are already dealing with another privacy headache — and this time, their children are at the center of it.

Harry and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, were reportedly targeted by photographers while attending school in the English countryside, according to a statement from the couple’s spokesperson.

The incident comes just weeks after the family returned to the United Kingdom from California, with Harry and Meghan making a major effort to keep the location of their new home and their children’s school private.

Apparently, those efforts have been insufficientt to keep the media hounds at bay.

According to Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson, photographers recently walked around the perimeter of the children’s new school before stopping to look into the school grounds and monitor Archie and Lilibet.

“The decision by photographers to conduct themselves in this way around a school is extraordinarily reckless,” the rep said this week (via Reuters).

The statement also took aim at “certain European paparazzi” who allegedly appear unwilling to respect the privacy of children while they’re at school.

“There is a world of difference between legitimate media activity and photographers walking the perimeter of a school, stopping to look into the grounds and monitoring children as they go about their day,” the spokesperson added.

The family has already experienced security concerns since returning to England. Archie and Lilibet previously changed schools after heavy traffic along the route to their original school raised concerns for their security team.

Harry and Meghan, who stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, currently rely on private security. Harry has also been fighting for government-provided police protection for his family in the United Kingdom.

And there’s an obvious reason this particular issue hits close to home for Harry.

Consequently, many longtime Duggar-watchers might express surprise that she is marrying off so young.

Yes, 20 is probably too young to be married.

That marriage followed a three-month “engagement” — a courtship, a sort of fundamentalist ritual in which wedding plans are made without a father-approved couple being able to establish anything but a superficial bond.

It’s been just over a week since Cindy Crawford’s son, Presley Gerber, passed away inside a rehab facility in Southern California.

Now, we have disturbing new information about Presley’s final hours.

Portions of the last night of the 27-year-old’s life have been captured on video, offering a heartbreaking glimpse into the struggles he faced.

Presley died on September 20 after suffering what authorities described as an apparent overdose while staying at Resolutions Living in Santa Monica, California.

TMZ and other outlets have reported that workers at the facility were aware that Presley was “high” when he checked in.

Now, new footage shows the model inside the facility the night before his death.

In the clip below, Presley appears wearing a white tank top, black glasses, and a silver chain necklace. His distinctive neck tattoos are visible as he films himself inside his living quarters.

He also gives viewers a look around the facility, which features multiple beds and a balcony overlooking the property and the surrounding city skyline.

According to Page Six, two sources confirmed that Presley filmed the video Saturday night — just hours before his death.

The facility itself is an upscale $7.7 million property with amenities including a movie theater, gym, chef-prepared meals and views of the surrounding mountains.

Its website describes a “three-phase recovery program” involving goal-setting activities, volunteer work, and character-building exercises.

But despite the luxurious surroundings, Presley was reportedly struggling in the days leading up to his death.

One source previously told Page Six that he “seemed off” and “didn’t seem like himself.”

Authorities were reportedly called to the facility the following morning for a cardiac arrest and overdose. Presley was found dead at the scene.

His official cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.

Presley had publicly discussed his struggles with addiction and depression over the years. He had also been arrested for DUI in 2018, ultimately pleading no contest and receiving three years of probation.

Raquell is asking for child support, medical support, and financial contributions from Gabe Brown towards daycare for their three children.

Additionally, she is looking for support for long-distance transportation and education expenses.

For backstory, in April of 2023, Meghan signed with WME. Emanuel was, at the time, among high-profile agents listed on her team. Others included Brad Slater and Jill Smoller.

The goal was to build out Meghan’s business ventures — not just As Ever, which as most people know is doing very well — including film projects, television production, and brand partnerships.

It now appears that Emanuel’s ties to Meghan was relatively short-lived.

Early this year, Variety reported that Emanuel and Slater only remained attached to her account for a few months before consciously uncoupling from Meghan’s interests.

We do not yet know why. Emanuel’s comment here appears to suggest that it was not on good terms — or at least that he did not want to project warmth while speaking with a British interviewer.

It seems that once a month or so, we receive another report that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has been moved up.

At this point, the disgraced rapper and music mogul will be a free man on January 21, 2028.

That’s about a year and a half away — but in the meantime, it sounds like Diddy is making the best of a bad situation.

According to one new report, Diddt is living a surprisingly cushy existence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, where four former inmates claim he has been paying fellow prisoners to cook, clean, do his laundry, and even give him massages.

NBC News spoke with the former inmates and reviewed photos and videos from inside the federal prison, reporting that Combs has allegedly spent thousands of dollars a month maintaining his unusual setup.

“This is not some normal s— you see in jail. This is some rich s—,” one former inmate said, adding, “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”

Among the alleged perks are specially prepared meals, including curry chicken, pizza, and empanadas. One inmate claimed he eventually got tired of cooking for Combs, who then began relying on other prisoners to prepare his food.

Another alleged privilege is a bit harder to explain away as simple prison hospitality.

Sources told NBC News that Combs has had access to contraband cellphones, which he allegedly uses to scroll Instagram and view sexually explicit photos sent by a former girlfriend. He also reportedly has access to a tablet that allows him to watch movies and documentaries.

And then there’s the booze.

Several former inmates claimed Combs has access to a stash of premium liquor that is allegedly smuggled into the facility by guards. One man even recalled drinking Hennessy with the rapper.

Combs has also allegedly obtained Remeron, an antidepressant medication that is prescribed to some inmates but is reportedly traded on the prison’s black market.

The claims paint a very different picture of prison life than most people would expect — though Combs’ representatives strongly dispute the characterization.

“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” said one spokesperson.

“The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal,” the representative added.

The Bureau of Prisons declined to comment specifically on Combs, citing privacy, safety, and security concerns. However, the agency acknowledged that contraband, including cellphones and drugs, remains an ongoing problem inside correctional facilities.

Combs, 56, is currently serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
